With a blog you should have a twitter account, facebook account, and myspace account. Put these on your about me and watch your friends grow automatically. Social bookmarking is also a huge help to bloggers since you can submit every post and let the community on the social bookmarking site vote good or bad. If the story/post is good enough then you will more than likely see the first page of the site meaning a ton of traffic and a high authoritative backlink. Remember that blogging is not easy which is why you should pick a subject you are very passionate about and keep posting no matter what.
